Answer 8: 27 proofs of “The First Church”

8. They were commissioned (Matt. 28:18-20).

In all the proofs cited by S.E. Anderson, this one is actually a proof of the existence of a New Testament church.  It takes place after Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, and before Pentecost.  Moreover, it is to the select group of men with which Christ entered into covenant at the Lord’s Supper.  All are saved, and all are properly baptized by proper authority.  All have been shown the mind of Christ concerning the institution that is the New Testament church.  Moreover, all are willingly there for service to the Lord.  Plainly, the statement made by the apostle Paul in Acts 20:28 is in full force and effect and these men do constitute the first New Testament church.
